An exhibition for the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Yeovilton GALLIPOLI: The RNAS in the Aegean 1915 – 1918
We were asked to produce an exhibition for the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Yeovilton portraying the RNASs role in the Gallipoli campaign GALLIPOLI: The RNAS in the Aegean 1915 – 1918
The exhibition had a prominent position at the entrance to the museum, To engage the viewer we based the design/layout on the dates, key elements of the whole campaign. As well as considering the existing design brand created for NMRN Gallipoli: Myth and Memory, at the National Museum of the Royal Navy, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and Fleet Air Arm Museum, Yeovilton.
We wanted to to create as much impact as possible whilst considering the budget. Part of the brief was emphasising the people involved in the campaign. Making use of the good photography supplied by the curators at Fleet we created life-size figures contour cut from foamex panels of key participants of the RNAS Gallipoli campaign, these are free standing and can be placed anywhere in the exhibition.
A disability access ramp provided access to the exhibition area, this had glass sides, we took the opportunity to place acrylic graphics on the glass panels, setting the scene and gave a ‘feeling’ of the environment the soldiers were up against.
Contour cut foamex airplane cut-outs adorn the roof area, again adding to the overall look and feel of the area.
